Embroidering Pt. 3

April 30th, 2008

This one’s all Zenith’s fault! :P

Him suggesting Space Invaders and Mario for my next embroidery patterns made me go
“Hahahah!….hey… hmmm… it would be kinda cool to do a Monkey Island one!”.
I know that makes me an incredible geek but I don’t care :P

So here’s a Guybrush pattern I put together using a sprite from MI2 as a reference.
Yes I know, it’s a pixely MI2 Guybrush, I don’t care much for the goofy looking versions of him they did for MI 3 and 4.
MI1&2 > all! :D

(Guybrush is of course (C) LucasArts)

(PS. Mom you don’t have to do this one if you don’t want to hahah. I’m also working on something else. :) I might give it a go myself though.)

Loool!

For all you fellow WoW addicts out there.
I found this and seriously lol-ed. :D

Embroidering Pt. 2

April 29th, 2008

I just got a mail from my bro, he sent me a pic of the embroidery my mom just finished using the Anubis pattern I made.

Here it is :)

(Click here for the large version)

Very nice job ma! :D

I don’t think I would have had the patience for that.
But I’ll definitely start working on some more patterns for ya :)

Fixed teh intarwebz!!

April 27th, 2008

The weird problem with my net connection seems to have finally been fixed.
What was the problem? Well, one of two things, either our router or the little cable going from our router to the cable modem.

We bought a new router a while back because the one we were currently using wasn’t letting our wii connect to it. Apparently the model was actually on the list of incompatible routers.
We hadn’t bothered to install the new router right after we bought it because we had family over and were pretty busy with all sorts of stuff so it’s been sitting there in it’s packaging for a while. But today was the day, the net was crapping out completely as it had been over the past 2 days and it had done the same thing before, for about a week solid a few weeks ago, so we figured we might as well do it now to see if it was really the net / provider (there had been an announcement on WoW about connectivity problems in certain regions) or whether it was something on our side.

So after I finally managed to get the damn thing out of the plastic (You know the really thick sharp plastic that doesn’t have any easy way of opening it and requires you to ruin a decent pair of scissors and a couple of fingers on it) I installed it and configured it. It came with a little cable to go between it and the cable modem and I figured, ya know what? I might as well replace that too just in case. And low and behold… we can has teh intarwebz. :P

Seems a lot faster than it has been lately too.
So then we did the test of leaving Mord’s PC off and OMG… my net still works. It’s a fucking miracle! :D

So yeah, either the router was starting to die on us or…. the little cable between the cable modem and router was borked. And after thinking about it I do seem to vaguely recall the cable guy making it on the spot himself so who knows. But anyway… I don’t care which it was, we needed a new router anyway and it’s fixed now so yay! :)

Embroidering

April 24th, 2008

During my mom and aunt’s stay here they attempted to teach me how to knit (lol).
I think I’ve got the basics down now. I’m still going very slow though so don’t expect me to make anything interesting yet, I’m still just doing test patches.

The Slytherin scarf thing didn’t work out too well btw, turns out you can only really do chunky and easily recognizable patterns for shadow knitting, otherwise it just becomes very hard to make out. Especially words, because only parts of it will appear depending on how you look at it so it’ll be hard to read the entire thing. So ya, shame, but oh well.

Anyway, after being creative like that they got all inspired, my aunt crocheted (Is that even a word?..) a hat for my mom and my mom got all interested in embroidering again. After seeing the Ancient Egyptian exposition at the museum she was curious about doing some of that in the form of embroidery. She’s also looking around to see if there’s any info out there about Egyptian jewel crafting with beads. We saw a beautiful necklace there which she’d love to try and recreate.

Anyway, I promised her I’d tinker around and try and make her an embroidery pattern with something Egyptian on it so I did. It’s just a test pattern. I have no idea how to make a proper embroidery pattern so I just downloaded a grid template from the net and basically did a very rough sort of pixel art work because it’s very similar to that with the squares you need to fill with color.
Like I said, it’s very rough, because it’s just a test to see if she can even use it. I also kept the colors as few as possible (7) so she doesn’t have to buy a lot of them for this.

That’s just a small version, here’s the full size one for you mom and of course for anyone else who would like to give it a go.

-Dee.

(Oh and btw, the top left is just a color list so you know what to get, no need to embroider that bit of course. And the sand color in the background is just a suggestion for the canvas color. Also, the yellow would probably be less of an eyesore if replaced by some sort of gold colored thread. But eh that’s up to you :) )

Oh and btw,

have you ever seen two chickens break up a rabbit fight?

Well now you have… :P

Family visit

April 21st, 2008

It’s over now.

We had a fun two weeks with my mom and aunt staying over. They’re back in NL now, they had a good trip and arrived home safely :)

While they were here we visited NYC a few times, went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (I loved their Ancient Egyptian exposition) and we also took them to see the statue. Apart from that they explored the area a bit themselves, took buses pretty much everywhere and I found out that my mom and aunt have a lot more energy than I do which is pretty sad lol.

So yeah, they’re gone now and the place feels pretty empty now. Even more so since Mord has to take care of his mom’s horses this week so I have the place all to myself for 5 days. well except for the pets of course :)

So I’ll be chilling over the next few days, catching up on WoW and other various on-line things so I’ll see you guys around :)

-Dee.

….wut?

April 12th, 2008

I know, I’m losing it… I don’t care :P

Visitors!

April 4th, 2008

I’m going to be gone-ish for the next two weeks because my mom and aunt are going to be staying with us yay!
They’re arriving tomorrow.
I say “gone-ish” because I’ll still be checking my mail and such, I just won’t be on-line much apart from that.
So feel free to e-mail me if it’s something important, or even if it’s not lol.

So catch ya laters!
I’ll be posting pics :)

DM Dread steed event 2-man

April 1st, 2008

We did it! :D
I seriously had my doubts because it’s quite a hectic fight.

I tamed a lvl 70 owl for the occasion, taught it growl and ground ’till it got it’s first loyalty level so I could teach it screech. Those are the only two skills I bothered with because that’s all it really had to do, keep aggro. Didn’t want it spending energy on damage because that’s what I was for.

I don’t have any screen shots of the actual imp and infernal fight because well… I was kinda busy :P
But It was basically just a matter of keeping the owl near Cimil to get aggro off and dps the hell out of the infernals to keep their numbers down and the imps when I had time. Cimil enslaved one of the infernals when they started to overwhelm us a bit and that helped a lot.
The dreadsteed and his owner were a piece of cake after that.

So yay, grats Cimil, we did it! And before ya hit lvl 61 :D
