First!!!

February 26th, 2008

First piece of finished art done in the new house :P

Arrr!!! Tis ye pirate Shadee Wolf and a bottle o’ Rum! :P
Nothing great, just an avatar for an old community I used to frequent.
Was fun attempting to be creative again though. I need to do more of that.

Internet People

February 22nd, 2008

I was checking my mail and the other websites and on-line communities I usually check daily just now, and one of my old College friends made a cool suggestion for my site. Which made me look at it again. And somehow I got distracted and I ended up rereading all the comments in my guest book. And it kinda made me feel a bit nostalgic.
I’ve lost touch with so many of those people and they were all so much fun to interact with. Most of them have moved on to other communities, a lot of them changed their nicknames so it’s hard to remember who went where.
I know it’s the net, and that’s what happens with on-line friends, I’ve done the same, but it’s really a shame.

So I guess what I want to post here is a big thank you to all my old friends of…

#Holland and #Australia on IRCnet
Wolfhome
Dreamshift
Blitzcoder and #Blitzcoder on Blitzed.org
Pixelation
3DHangout
SheezyArt
DeviantArt (I’m still active there but so many people have come and gone)

…who I’ve had fun times and many laughs with.
Thank you for wasting time and being silly with me. :)

I know it’s silly to post this for people who I’ve lost touch with because they won’t be reading it.
But who knows, maybe one day someone else will reminisce like I did and dig up this post from one of the compost heaps we call internet search engines. :P

Happy Valentines Day people!

Make sure to buy that special someone some chocolate today.
My suggestion, get her a cute chocolate heart! :)
Then again, I’ve never been the best person to take advice from when it comes to commercial holidays :D

Anyway, I hope you’ll all have a fun filled eve. And if there’s no special someone yet, just remember, there will be some day and until then you don’t have to share your chocolate!!!! :D

Shadow Knitting / Illusion Knitting

February 11th, 2008

Have you ever heard of such a thing?
I sure hadn’t.

But when I saw the howto wiki link on my igoogle this morning I was curious enough to click it.
Apparently shadow knitting / illusion knitting is a form of knitting where you knit in a hidden image which is only visible from a certain angle. That’s… kinda awesome! :D

I really am considering trying this out. Of course I’d have to learn how to knit first and judging by my track record of not having the patience to learn anything new this might not ever happen even though I’m excited about it now but eh, we’ll see :)

Here’s the link to the wiki thing and here is another one with a bunch of patterns and example photo’s so you can see how cool it is for yourself. I really love the Pirate skull and crossbones one. :D

I’d also love to have a Slytherin scarf done in this method, just to wear it out and scare the crap out of small children :D
But yeah basically if you’re creative you can do any pattern you want really.

[EDIT]
I just messed around a bit and made my own pattern for a Slytherin scarf :)

Slytherin scarf pattern by Shadee

Ok I’m getting excited now lol.

This would be the hidden image on a normally white and green striped scarf. (The black being the places where the white wool would be. Though I’m kinda leaning towards making it black and green because I like that combo better even though it’s not the original Slytherin color combo)

This is a really cropped version by the way just so it’ll fit in my blog.
If anyone’s interested in this pattern let me know and I’ll send you the full size one (in which the stitch squares don’t look that messy, meh at resizing and what it does to lines).

The Chicken or the Egg ?

February 4th, 2008

This actually happened several weeks ago and I was going to post about it but I forgot.
Well for some strange reason while staring blankly at my PC screen at 8 AM this snowy Monday morning a bubble popped in my head and I remembered.

So yeah, a few weeks ago…

We were at the supermarket, at the check out line, I was at the end bagging our groceries when the answer to the age old question finally revealed itself to me.
The chicken breast came rolling towards me on the conveyor belt…. and right AFTER THAT… the eggs.

I was ecstatic of course! And I shared the wonder with Mord when we were putting our grocery bags into the trunk of the car.

Unfortunately the joy was short lived.
When we got home I started to unpack our groceries and the FIRST thing to come out of the shopping bag…
…were the eggs… :(

So once again the question is raveled in mystery and the conundrum continues.
