I know, I used to =be= Tech Support but I’ve encountered such an odd problem that I’d like to hear your opinions because I’m baffled at this one.

We’ve recently moved and we got a new cable provider. Our set up is the same as it was at our old place, just a different cable modem.

So it’s Cablemodem -> Router -> Our PC’s

Here’s the problem:

I noticed that my net would be fine in the morning for about half an hour or so but then it would get extremely slow (about 75% packet loss when I tried a ping) and eventually it would just stop working entirely.
Then during the rest of the day it would be on and off, sometimes it’d be fine for a little while but after a few minutes it would give me the same problem. In the evenings however when Mord would get home and I’d try to show him the problem, it wouldn’t happen and everything would work fine

I tried resetting the cable modem and the router, changing router ports, cursing at my network card, changing network cables, I tested the net on Mord’s PC when mine would die and his would always be fine…

Now… here’s what I’ve found out.
Believe it or not, the problem doesn’t actually happen when Mord’s PC is on.
I have it turned on now, I haven’t even logged onto a user, it’s just on. And now my net connection on my computer is fine….

So… even though this is a work around that seems to work right now… WHAT THE HELL?!!
This is the most retarded net problem I’ve ever had… so if anyone’s ever encountered this and/or can enlighten me and tell me where the hell this is going wrong please let me know lol. Cause this is just silly… :/

Nutshell:

- Pretty much all of our stuff moved
- Boxes everywhere
- Got net, TV, new fridge and phone installed

Dead tired and achy from all the moving so ima go die on the couch for a while

We’re not actually going to move move (as in live there) into the new place before next weekend.
This weekend has really kicked out butts. The drive up there is an hour and a half, so when you include packing and loading things in and out of the truck one trip back and forth will pretty much take up half a day.

We got a good amount of stuff up there though. So hopefully we can get the rest up there next weekend. But if not then we’ll at least make sure to get all the necessities over. We’re having cable, phone and net installed next weekend and also a new fridge. So it’ll be much more convenient to move after that’s done anyway.

So yay, I still have net this week. And not so yay, I’ll still have lots to pack this week too

Yep the date changed again but it’s today, so by the end of the day we should have the keys to our new place! We stopped by there yesterday to have a final walk through before closing and everything looked fine.
So we’ll start moving this weekend.

Got an appointment to have cable installed at the new place next weekend so I’ll probably be off-line for about a week or so.
