2007 Recap

December 31st, 2007

So… it’s the last day of 2007.

Lots happened this year, lotsa stressy stuff, most of which ended up turning out great.
Though despite all the stress and waiting the year still flew by.

So here’s a recap of just the major events in my 2007:
* After a long struggle I got my green card
* Because of the above I could finally travel back to NL to visit my family and friends which I did
* Thanks to landlord and realtor annoyances we went and found a great new place to live

So all in all it was a pretty good year if you leave out all the stress and waiting it took to accomplish some of these things lol. But hey it’s all part of the package and it was well worth it. Thanks to the stuff that went on in 2007 we’ll be so much more stress free in 2008, basically a clean slate :)

No more stressing about possibly getting kicked out of the country lol, no more travel or work restrictions, no more landlord, no more downstairs neighbors using the hot water while we’re in the shower. No more shared back yard but one of our very own, shorter commute to work for Mord, lots of space in the new place for Mord to do writing, for me to do artsy stuff and for the pets to run around and go nuts, so it’ll be great and I’m sooo looking forward to it! :D

As for 2008…

My plans:
* Get settled in our new place and have a party of course! :D
* Work out more and do lotsa outdoorsy stuff. The new place will be great for that, mmm mountains and lakes
* Start dabbling in wildlife photography as a new hobby
* Get my drivers license and a job out by our new place somewhere

So yeah, I hope you all had a good year as well and are looking forward to next :)
Best wishes for the new year you guys!! Have a happy and healthy one! :D

Soon :)

December 29th, 2007

We have a closing date!

Right now it’s scheduled for Jan 4 so we didn’t quite make it before the end of the year but eh, it’s still soon.
So that means we’ll still have to rent this place for another month but at least we can take it easy with the move that way. It would’ve sucked pretty bad to have had to pack and move everything that fast. Plus now we can take advantage of the trash pick up our old land lord paid for and scheduled for us early Jan. So it’s not such a bad thing at all. :)

I’ll make sure to take some pics of the empty place when we get the keys. :)

Well…

December 21st, 2007

Good thing we got so irritated by the process of our current home being sold that we ended up in the process of buying a house ourselves.

Got a letter from the new “landlord’s” lawyer yesterday telling us he wants us out by the 1st of March because he wants to occupy the house himself. According to the mailman the downstairs neighbors got the same envelope so I hope they’ve already been looking around for a new place as well, if not then I hope they’ll manage to find a place in 3 months. Not a very nice Christmas present for them otherwise. :(

For us it’s actually convenient news. It means the guy won’t be interested in trying to lock us into a lease if we do end up needing part of January. I’m still hoping we’ll be able to get out before the end of the year though. Even though I can understand why he kept his intentions quiet during the sale I do think it’s a bit of a crappy thing to spring on people, especially right before the holidays. So I’d rather we didn’t have to pay him a cent. :P

But ya, we’ll see what happens. Only about a week and a half left ’till the end of the year. In that time the septic tank still needs to be replaced, we need to see permits, termite treatment, have our final walk through and then move all of our stuff in. So blah, I know it’s unrealistic of me to think it’ll still happen before then, and it really doesn’t have to happen before then anymore because we have 3 extra months to work with now but I’m gonna cling to that deadline damn it! =P

*shakefist* >_<

Fluorescent cats??!

December 13th, 2007

A friend of mine pointed me here and here.

Man that’s such a WTF….

They didn’t just clone cats, but they…. made them fluorescent??!
I can see how cloning might help with research when it comes to curing diseases but glow in the dark cats??

Then I thought, wait a minute!!!….

I know why they want fluorescent cats!!…

That way Asian restaurant owners can see them easier in dark alleys!!

I’ll be putting a black light over my take out before I eat it from now on thank you very much! :P

House Inspection Pt. 2

December 12th, 2007

We went back for a structural house inspection at the new house last weekend.
The reason we had to was because there was too much stuff in the basement/crawlspace so the previous inspector couldn’t really see much. It all turned out to be good though, so apart from the septic tank still needing to be replaced, the owner needing to show us some permits and such for changes he’s made to the house and a few other minor loose ends it looks like we’re almost done :)

Good thing too because it looks like the sale’s final for the house we’re in now too. They’re doing the final walk through here tomorrow so I guess I’ll finally get to see the new landlord. Luckily our old landlord came and picked up this month’s rent already so at least we still have December. According to the owners of the place we’re buying they’ll be out before Christmas. So if we could move in before the new year that would be awesome :)

So fingers still crossed lol
