The dates…

August 26th, 2007

2 - 15 September

For net folks, I’ll be gone for those two weeks so I doubt I’ll be on much (if at all) during that time. I will however keep an eye on my e-mail, so if you do want to contact me during those weeks, e-mail’s the way to do it.

For people back in The Netherlands, that’s when I’m gonna be coming over there!!! :D
Already booked the flights so everything’s set!
(I’ll be arriving a day after I leave btw, so that’ll be sept 3rd)
Most of you will probably remember my parents’ phone number (that’s where I’ll be staying), I don’t have a cellphone at the moment so their number is where you can reach me.
If you don’t remember, just let me know and I’ll e-mail it to ya.
I probably won’t be available for the first few days or so though, since I promised my mom I’d sort out all the stuff there that’s still mine lol. So that, jet lag and catching up with my family will keep me busy for a while :D
But that’s why I booked 2 weeks, so I’ll have plenty of time to hang out with everyone :D

Catch you all soon!

-Dee.

I GOT MAH GREEN CARD I GOT MAH GREEN CARD!!!!!!!!!!1 :D :D :D

Guess I’m one of the 30% who immediately gets it.
We lugged our 2 bags of crap over there, sat in the waiting room for 2.5 hours (Mord reading a book and me listening to someone else’s lawyer coaching them and letting her stress me out even more lol), then we finally got called.

Our interviewer was a young man who was very friendly and reasonable, even had a great sense of humor. So all the warnings we’d had about keeping a serious face and only giving short answers and not volunteering anything unless asked for kinda went out the window a bit. He asked a few standard questions, nothing personal even really, and I didn’t even need to open my other bag with photo albums correspondence and all that stuff lol.
He’d noticed that I hadn’t worked yet or made any financial ties which is technically by the book, said it made him giggle when he saw it because hardly anyone does it exactly by the rules these days so he said it was a nice change.

He told me he wanted to see my work permit (which I’d only just gotten lol) and told me he was going to keep it.
Me: “uh oh….” but then he added “because you won’t need it anymore” and gave me a temporary green card stamp in my passport, the actual one will arrive in the mail soon :D

And that was that, 2.5 hours waiting, and a 5 min interview lol, but man it was an interview I would’ve gladly waited 10 hours for.

So yay!!

First thing I’ll be doing right now is plan a trip to NL to go visit my family and friends there again! :)

Nerves

August 21st, 2007

Tomorrow is my interview.
I’m not nervous about the interview itself so much, I just have this annoying feeling that I might’ve forgotten something. So I’m having a hard time relaxing and putting it out of my mind. I’m sure I’m just being stupid and everything is just fine, but eh you know how it is when you’re nervous about something. ;)

Add to that the fact that there are people coming over to see the house this evening (assuming they’ll actually come, so far none of them have bothered showing up for their appointments and didn’t even have the decency to call and cancel either, leaving us waiting all fucking day). Eh, we’ll see, at least tidying up for that will keep my mind somewhat occupied :)

Ooh! and I want to thank everyone for sending us anniversary cards! :D
We got so many, and from more people than we ever expected, it’s awesome! I’m pretty sure there are still a bunch underway too lol, snail mail has been a bit weird here lately so don’t feel bad if it hasn’t gotten here on time, I still really appreciate it!

3 years

August 15th, 2007

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary!!
Scary how time flies when yer having fun :D
We’ll celebrate it properly once this interview thing is over. That’s next week so wish us luck.

I was going to print out our IRC chatlog as another piece of proof but then I realized it’s 7000 pages worth lol.
After changing the font size to minuscule it went down to 5000 but still, I don’t think I’d be able to lift a stack of paper that huge lol. So instead I printed about 100 pages of each year and we’ll just bring the rest on CD if they want to see more. So we’ll see if that, along with photo albums, cards and letters and such are enough to convince them.

Ooh completely diff topic, Mord bought us the RosettaStone Learning Italian CD which is awesome! :)
Been meaning to learn Italian for so long, I still have family there so it’ll be good to be able to go there and actually talk to them. So we’ll both be using it and who knows, maybe we’ll even move there some day.
It’s a very interesting learning system. I’ve only used it for 2 days and a lot of it is already sticking, so so far so good :)

Ren Faire

August 12th, 2007

We went to the NY Renaissance Faire yesterday and met up with some friends.
It was my first trip ever to one of those and it was a lot of fun. There was so much to see and so much to do that we didn’t even get close to seeing all of it, so we’re definitely heading back for another visit before it’s over.

There were some cool and funny shows, we went to a birds of prey demonstration and there were lots of stores selling awesome things (I want a pirate hat!!). Of course there were a lot of people in costume too. Some a lot better than others though lol. But the authentic looking ones definitely tempt me to get myself a costume of some sort just for fun. Not sure what yet though, probably something piratey, which of course isn’t Renaissance at all but I saw a bunch of costumes like that there and I guess you can’t really keep that out these days with all the POTC movies being so popular at the moment and people just loving the pirate theme in general. So hey who knows, I might actually get geeky enough to do it some day XD
Mord had some of his fav drink there (Mead) and because he knew what he was doing when drinking it the bartender gave him another one on the house lol.

After the Faire we went back to our friends’ place, and hung out with them and had a BBQ dinner, which was awesome. We had some margaritas, then they tempted me with some awesome local hard cider. I think there was about a liter in that bottle lol, but it was so good that I couldn’t help but drink all of it. Their 2 ferrets came over to say hi and somehow they both ended up sleeping on my lap. So that was very cute. Never actually handled ferrets before but it seemed like they handled me quite well :)

Anyway, today we’re having people over to view the house (Landlord is selling it) so I should probably tidy up a bit instead of sitting here typing :D

Lawlyercopter…

August 10th, 2007

We went to meet our lawyer yesterday to talk about the immigration interview which we’ll have to go to on the 22nd.

We brought all the things we’ve gathered so far. A lot of it was good stuff but apparently we’re still lacking some things.
The problem is that I’ve only just received my work permit, so “joint assets” kinda wasn’t much of an option before. Can’t open a joint bank account without a social security number. And to be honest I never really felt the need to since I wasn’t allowed to work anyway! So what’s the point unless you’re one of those people who loves spending money as fast as your other half makes it. And well, I’m Dutch. I have a hard time spending money even when he’s in the store with me lol.

Anyway, we still have to get things like that sorted, so today we’ll make a mad dash to try and do that. I also need mail sent to me by official instances, which I never had for the same reasons. I thought I was being good and doing things legally by not making any financial ties here until my green card was sorted but I guess I shouldn’t have been that good and cautious because now it might bite me in the ass :/

Another thing they want to see is things like Valentines cards and anniversary cards we gave to each other over the years….
We don’t do that crap… We never have. We prefer to go out to dinner, or go visit a fun place instead. We’re not “OMG lookit teh cute tedybare pikture holdding a haert and baloonz kard my lubbydubbysweethaerrtpumpkn gave 2 meeee!!!!!!1″ People.
So that’s not gonna happen. Can’t exactly pretend and buy like 20 of them now because they’ll all have this year’s (C) on them XD
We’ve eaten chocolates on valentines day… but there’s not much evidence left of that unfortunately :D

We also need more cards and stuff sent from other people. Like Anniversary cards. Which is kind of a coincidence since our 3rd anniversary is on the 15th of this month. So if you’re bored and wouldn’t mind helping us out then feel free to send us one :) Just send me an e-mail to shadee@shadeewolf.com and I’ll send you our address assuming I have any idea who you are. Not posting the address here for obvious reasons.

So yeah, I guess if you want to move to another country and are like us then make sure to act like someone else until your green card gets processed, that way you’ll have more proof and an easier time convincing them that “you are who you say you are” and they’ll be happy… or something… :/

I wish they’d just understand that not all couples are the same.

The drama back home.

August 6th, 2007

Both of my brothers are divorced. Their 2 exes used to hate each other’s guts but are all palsy now.
Not to mention the fact that the parents of one of my closest friends since kindergarten seem to have joined the loathing my family club all of a sudden without giving any reason. They just ceased contact all together after like 20 years of friendship and are hanging out with my brothers’ exes now. I guess whatever my parents did must have been unbelievably horrible. Because they didn’t even say a fucking word when my mom was in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

And now my brother’s exes or at least one of them is trying to bring their kids into this mess as well. My oldest nephew already doesn’t want to see my brother anymore. When he saw him in the street he started cussing him out like mad and at the same time he kept saying “Please don’t get angry daddy” so she’s already managed to mess him up entirely, and the youngest is crying and throwing a fit at my brother’s place because his mom told him to say that my brother’s new girlfriend’s daughter is a whore and that my brother is bad. Which he didn’t want to say but his mom told him he had to. What the hell is wrong with that bitch? What the hell is wrong with all of them?!

I don’t know what my parents did or didn’t do to piss my friends’ parents off so much that they don’t even give a rat’s ass whether my mom ‘ll be OK or not when she’s in the hospital. I can’t even imagine being that heartless to an old friend I might have beef with. Unless they’ve murdered someone I love or something.

I don’t know what happened between my brother and his ex either. Who knows, for all I know she has every right to be pissed at him, but she needs to leave the kids out of this and let them be kids for fuck’s sake. She’s completely messing them up mentally just so she can have a laugh at my brother’s expense.

I hope my brother ‘ll grow a spine and sue her for custody soon.
She’s one of the worst parents I’ve ever seen and I feel so bad that my nephews have to suffer because of her.

I am so incredibly angry right now…
