Blizz gets 50 DKP +

September 28th, 2006

After opening a ticket last night they gave all the chars of mine that were affected by the mount changes the riding skill.
So I’ll stick around afterall (well the fact that they’d already just charged us for another 6 months is also a reason).
So yeah, yay for finally having something fixed.
Didn’t get my white stallion still but I’m not gonna push it.
As I already said in Guildchat, “The grind for 900g was so much fun that I think the utter joy of being allowed to do it all over again would probably give me a stroke”.

Blizz FTL >:(

Subject: Need issues resolved
From: shadee@shadeewolf.com
Date: Wed, September 27, 2006 6:59 am
To: WoWGM@Blizzard.com
Cc: shadee@shadeewolf.com

When I first started playing WoW I had a goal set to get my NE Druid
(Shadeez, Suramar) exalted with Stormwind to get the old white stallion
bridle. I did all the SW quests and ground rep in any way I possibly
could. The festival of the moon, the war effort etc. So I spent most of my
in-game time and gold trying to achieve this goal.
Right before I managed to get the gold and rep, Blizzard replaced the
mount with something else so I was never able to recieve the reward I had
been looking forward to and had been working so hard for all that time.
I’ve contacted several people about this but no one could or wanted to
help me. I wasn’t asking for a freebie or something that would give me any
gameplay advantage over other players, I only wanted to have the epic cat
I have now replaced by the old white stallion bridle which I had worked so
hard for to try and get.
I felt totally gimped and this issue bothers me still.

A while ago, with another one of my characters (Ravenz, Suramar) which is
not quite lvl 60 yet, I bought an epic mount as soon as I had saved up the
gold and have been keeping it in my bank as leveling motivation.
Now Blizzard is going to gimp me once again by making me pay the same
amount I payed for the mount originally before the patch for riding skill
upgrades??!!

I’ll be expecting to receive either the riding skill necessary for Epic
Nightsabers for free when this char turns 60 or a full refund of the
original price I payed for it minus the new epic mount price ASAP.

Having the White Stallion issue resolved aswell would be a very nice extra
and to be honest, the very least you could do to compensate for the
frustrations caused by the changes Blizzard has been putting in effect
without showing any consideration to possible issues these might cause.

I’m all for having to work hard to achieve fun goals in this game.
However if the rewards are completely removed right before you reach them
it becomes highly frustrating and ruins the fun entirely. And I am as I’m
sure you can understand very angry right now.

Please do not respond to me with the standard “I’m very sorry for the
inconvenience but I can’t help you” reply. If this is the case then please
forward this request to a superior who =can= help me instead.

I’m very very tired of having to keep pursuing issues which shouldn’t be
my problem to deal with as a customer in the first place and not getting
any proper responses or results. And I’m also very tired of being punished
again and again for working hard to try and achieve certain goals in this
game.

If this issue does not get resolved it will be the last straw for me.

And I didn’t even mention the 2 lvl 40 horses in the banks of my alts, or time when jumping out of an instance completely deleted my hunter pet because of one of their bugs. And they had the nerve to tell me “There are only a set number of restores we’ll do per account, are you sure you want us to further investigate?” It was their fuckin fault it disappeared in the first place! It was fed and happy so I can’t even believe they had the nerve to fucking go there. *foam at mouth*

Anyways. It’s been a great time playing WoW, and if they screw up again this time I’ll miss everyone I’ve enjoyed playing with dearly but I just refuse to let them get away with this kinda BS again.

Government approves adding virusses to food.

September 20th, 2006

Quoted from a news page:
_______________________
The Killer Cocktail

The FDA has now approved a virus-cocktail spray that might prevent listeriosis. The spray, called LMP 102, is a mixture of six different special viruses called bacteriophages — viruses that infect only bacteria, not people, animals or plants.

Even though these bacteriophages cannot infect people, are they safe?

Not completely. Bacteriophages, like all viruses, contain protein. These proteins can cause allergic reactions, just like milk proteins cause milk allergies.

The bacteriophages might also get into battle with the friendly bacteria in the digestive system, making it harder for the body to digest food. But that’s a risk the FDA already takes by allowing the use of antibiotics on farms.

The FDA currently allows bacteriophages to be used in pesticides, including those sprayed on crops. But this is the first time that the FDA has regulated the use of bacteriophages as a food additive. Other countries actually use bacteriophages in antibiotic drugs.

The idea here is that these six bacteriophages will infect and kill any listeria bacteria that might linger on ready-to-eat meats such as sliced ham and turkey.

Scientists might not determine how effective it is until the product becomes commercially available. Although it’s not available yet, the spray could be in processing plants in as little as six months.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, use of this spray will have to be marked on the food just like any other ingredient on the label.

Consumers might soon see the words “bacteriophage preparation” on cold cuts. While this preparation is intended to make food safer, it does not come without its own risks.”

I can’t believe they’re actually approving this.
For one it attacks the stomache bacteria people need to digest food and second, don’t virusses tend to evolve and adapt? I foresee some major problems with this plan and I’ll be keeping a very close watch on the what I pick up at the supermarket (well I already do for various other reasons) because I refuse to eat that crap. >=(
Sounds like it’s starting to get time to move to a deserted island with a few packets of unaltered vegetable seeds and some cattle and do our own thing :/

Shadee’s Recipes: Diet Cake

September 18th, 2006

This one’s a great recipe for when you want to lose weight.

Ingredients:

1 liter of water
1 cup of raisins
a pinch of salt
1 ts of sugar
1 ts of vanilla extract
few shakes of cinnamon powder

Use a saucepan to boil the water.
when it’s boiling turn down the heat to low. Add a pinch of salt and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Make sure to constantly keep stirring so the salt granules don’t stick together.
Turn off the heat and let it cool down.

In the mean time, get the cup of raisins and chop them into quarters.
This will give the cake a better texture than when using whole ones.
When the mixture has finished cooling down, get a bowl which will hold 1 liter and will still have room to whisk.
Pour in your cooled down mixture.
Now slowly whisk in the chopped raisins, the sugar, the vanilla extract and the cinnamon.

Do NOT stop whisking until the mixture is thick and creamy.

Then bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Mythbusters Busted

September 8th, 2006

Wednesday evening we were watching Mythbusters and to my delight they were going to test the “myth” (It’s not really a myth if there is solid scientific evidence) about plants having feelings and their responses by emissions of electricity.
They were going to use all the methods used by Dr. Backster who did research on this years ago.

It started out great, they hooked the plant up to a polygraph machine just like in the original experiments and started doing things to it. They hit the plant, used a fire distinguisher on it etc.
And every time the plant would respond with a huge spike on the detector.

The second test was the person thinking of harming the plant in different ways.
This also got the same response on the graph.

This is where the Mythbusters decided to take everyone except the plant out of the building and try it from there. And the plant didn’t react to thoughts outside the building, so… the myth is busted.
WTF?

So, if you’re sitting alone in a room with a psychic, and the psychic can predict all of your thoughts and actions, yet if you leave the room and they can’t do it, all of a sudden they’re not psychic anymore ?

With so little known about the phenomenon, how the hell do THEY have the nerve to decide what it’s rules and boundries are? They simply discarded the solid evidence they had and decided that if it doesn’t work over a bigger distance it doesn’t exist at all.

After that they tried measuring responses from yoghurt….

And then a test to see if a plant would react to eggs being boiled.
This was utterly stupid, because:

1. I doubt they bothered to make sure to get fertilized fresh eggs instead of the already dead unfertilized refrigerated supermarket ones.
2. WTF does a plant care about eggs being boiled anyway?! If their communication is so much more alien and complex compared to ours what the hell makes them think it’s the same type of communication a chicken embrio uses.
Plant…. chicken……………… chicken…. plant…… I have trouble just communicating with other people sometimes, so I’d definately foresee some compatibility issues with the above 2 subjects don’t you? :P

Sounds to me like the Mythbusters need a little lesson in science.

Shadee’s Recipes: Christmas Stew.

September 8th, 2006

This one has to be my favorite dish.
It’s a Family recipe, my dad invented it, and it’s been my family’s X-mas dinner for as long as I can remember :)
It’s the one dish I usually can’t eat without getting uncomfortably full.
Because I can hardly ever say no to a 2nd or sometimes even a 3rd helping :S

Ingredients :

Turkey breast, about a pound I guess.
Potatos, About 4 decent sized ones.
chestnuts, Pound
Green peas, big can
Black salt and oil cured olives 2 cups
White wine
Garlic
Salt
French bread

Recipe :

Peel the potatos and the chestnuts (some people like to roast the chestnuts over a fire in a pan with holes in the bottom for easier peeling, just don’t burn your fingers if you do that because they stay hot for a long time).
Cut both the Turkey breast and potatos into about 1 inch chunks.
Bake the turkey chunks in a little bit of olive oil in a deep souppan with some salt and garlic.
When it’s done, add a bit of white wine and enough water for the potatos to cook in. Add the potatos, chestnuts and olives.
Wait until the potatoes are done and turn down the heat to a simmer.
Add the peas and just leave it on the heat until the peas are hot.

It’s now ready to serve with a side of French or Italian bread for dipping.

Enjoy!

RIP Steve

September 4th, 2006

I just heard the news that Steve (Crocodile Hunter) Irwin has passed away.

During a shoot he was stung in the chest by a stingray normally considered fairly harmless.
I’m pretty shocked by this news, even if he was always seeking danger.
I know he had his goofy moments every now and then but underneath all that was a brilliant
ambitious man who spent every second of his life doing all he could to study and protect wildlife, and educate people.

I guess he gave us a final lesson in passing which shows us that it’s not always the animals we fear most that end up killing us. And to have a good amount of respect for all living creatures no matter what the statistics say.

My heart goes out to his family and friends.
RIP Steve.
