A-nole mio!! ….

July 27th, 2006

During our trip to Maine we left the Hermit Crab and the Anoles at home.

I used an automatic mister to keep them hydrated, bought some special crab food especially made for vacations so he was set for a week and I came up with a way to keep the anoles fed for that long too.
I found this nifty little termite mound looking feeder. It’s hollow with a lid and has 3 little holes at the bottom big enough for crickets but too small for the Anoles to get into.
So I put a shitload of crickets in there, and put the cricket food outside the mound, that way they’d have to go out to eat and the anoles ‘d have a chance to hunt ‘em.

I wasn’t sure how well it’d work so I put out a feeder with non living anole food (dried flies with supplements) aswell. I knew they didn’t like them before, but I figured they’d at least have “something” to eat that way if the crickets didn’t leave the mound or if they’d end up eating them all the first day.
So it was gonna be a bit of a surprise to see how they’d done.
I knew they wouldn’t have died of starvation with all the food I’d put in, especially since they can do several days without food. But you still never know what you’re gonna find.
Well… when we got back this was the result…

FAT CHUBBY ANOLES! :P

The other one is hiding because it’s molting so I didn’t get a pic of that one but man…
They ate most of the crickets AND pigged out on the food they didn’t like before.
I guess I really didn’t have to worry about them starving while we were away :P

(Oh yeah, I was bored and did a crummy new 50×50 Deviant Art Avatar to replace the old crummy one :P
Just gonna put it here because I dun wanna have to create a new entry just for that.)

2nd Edit: I pixelated a chibi puppy sketch of Dee. (yay for boredom…)
It turned out even cuter than the original sketch XD
So yeah, I’m using this one as my avatar instead for now

Getting to the root of the problem…

July 27th, 2006

It’s done…

I had my rootcanal yesterday.
Eventhough I was a little nervous about it (I’d heard stories about both good and bad experiences so I wasn’t sure what to expect), but something deep inside of me was actually looking forward to it.
Not so much to the rootcanal itself, but not having to wake up in the middle of the night and force myself to eat something just so I could take my painkillers anymore.

But I’m glad to say that even the procedure went well. A lot better than I expected.
I didn’t feel a thing the entire time they were working on it so whew… :)

I took 2 more Ibu 200 when I got back that evening just to be sure but I didn’t take the night ones and so far I’m doing just fine without them. The area is a bit sensitive, expecially the cheek where the novocaine needle went in but no serious pain anymore so I’m very relieved.
Gotta go back for the crown next week thurs but the scariest part is over so I’m not worried about that at all.

Ibu 800 is a hell of a drug…

You know… I’m starting to think I’m a little out of it…

I had a myspace account for a while but cancelled it because it’s pretty useless.
But today I decided to create a new one for some reason…

I added my friends… I hope they’ll add me back soon… @_@

I added The Burger King too. And he’s already approved me.. yay….. .

[edit] And William Shatner did just now too! Huzzah! 0_0 [/edit]

[edit]k they all added me back, except Chuck Norris but I know he’s a busy man with all the roundhouse kicking he has to do [/edit]

Back again…

July 24th, 2006

Got back from Maine yesterday afternoon and man am I destroyed.
Overall it was a fun trip and it was great to finally meet Mord’s grandma and her husband but unfortunately my bad luck kicked in.

The night before our departure I started noticing that one of my teeth was starting to hurt a bit.
I know I clench my teeth at night whenever I’m worried about something and well, leaving Sophie at a boarding kennel was really worrying me. I went back to sleep that night hoping that the tooth pain was only temporary because of the stress and that it’d be gone in the morning.

Course it didn’t go away. In fact it only got worse :P

So I ended up having to go to a dentist in Maine. They took an x-ray and showed me. It was an infection around the root. So they gave me a prescription for antibiotics and horse tranquilizer strength ibuprofen and told me to stay on that and go to my own dentist to have it fixed (probably a rootcanal) after the trip :P
So I was pretty doped up the rest of our stay.

As for pics, I didn’t get many interesting ones unfortunately.
Did spot a few moose and bald eagles but they were gone by the time my retarded digicam was ready to shoot. And unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to go whale watching. I’ll put the random pics I did get up somewhere one of these days. I’m just not interested in doing it right now. I just wanna go back to bed and sleep it off heh. Having to wake up at stupid hours to take meds every night hasn’t put me in the best of moods.

To top it off, we went to pick Sophie up right after we got back.

All seemed fine at first but when we got home I noticed the fur around her behind was all discolored and so was the fur between her toes. It looked like she’d been sitting and walking around in pee/crap while she was there. I gave her a bath and her toes are clean now but the behind area is still discolored.

So I was furious (still am) when I saw it. For the amount of money we had to spend I’d expect her to be taken better care of. So in a way I’m glad I noticed it after we got home instead of at the kennel. Because I would’ve grabbed someone by the throat and dragged them over the counter.
Mord is gonna call them to talk to them and see if we can get our money back.

Besides the bad hygiene, the toy ball she had and the flea collar she was wearing were both gone.
There were two other people there complaining about lost toys when we picked her up.
So I fear for anyone who leaves a pet that needs to be given medication there.
I’d imagine they’d probably lose that too and the pet ‘d probably end up dead before the end of their stay there.
I’m never gonna use their services again that’s for sure.

So yeah, the trip itself was fun apart from the tooth and dogkennel problems but I’m definately more stressed and tired than I was before we left unfortunately :/

I need a vacation…. :(

Tripping…

July 12th, 2006

Well sorta.

I’m just excited about next week. We’re going on a “camping” trip to Maine.
I say “camping” because we’re not actually staying in a tent but a little log cabin.
We’re spending the week with Mord’s mom, his grandma and her bf though, so with that many people the two of us ‘ll probably be sleeping in the livingroom section of the cabin. So it’s kinda like camping :)

I’ve been making a list of things I wanna bring. Trying to keep it as short as possible.
*Has Lowlands Festival flashbacks where she used to bring way too much crap and had to drag it around when she hardly used any of it*

But yeah it’ll be a Cabin on the lake kinda thing with a little boat we can use. So I’m expecting lotsa relaxing, fishing, swimming and probably some sightseeing and whatever else there is to do in Maine.
I’ll be bringing my digicam and I’m really hoping to get some nice wildlife shots while I’m up there, if I’m very very lucky, maybe even some whales.

So expect me to be gone for a week starting this coming sunday.
I’ll post some photos when I get back :D

Critter Magnet…

July 3rd, 2006

We went over to Mord’s mom’s place yesterday to hang out, do some shopping for the camping trip and have din and stuff. It was a fun day, and we left that evening.

Just a minute into the drive back home I felt something movin in my hair.
So I reached for it and grabbed it. It was small and it had wriggly legs. So I put it down on my knee to have a better look at it. And in about half a second my reflexes kicked in and I went “TICK!!” and flicked the damn thing off my jeans. *sigh*…. that’s the second one in a month. :/
I guess I’m just as unlucky with those buggers as I am with mosquitos.
Anyway, I immediately regretted letting my creepy crawly reflexes kick in because now it was somewhere on the car floor.
We stopped on a parking lot and I used one of the keychain flashlights we’d just bought to try and find it. No luck though.

So we drove the rest of the way back home, I had another look but nothing.
We went inside, and I asked Mord to look me over but it wasn’t on me.
I still wasn’t satisfied though, so I picked up my jeans and went over my pantlegs inch by inch.
Bottom and outside… nothing… inside… Motherf… There it was, the little bastard.
He hadn’t wasted any time and had gone right for me again. And it’d already crawled back up the inside of my jeans. *shudder*

As you can probably imagine I’ve been itching and scratching all over and showered and been scrubbing my hair like mad since. :/
My appointment to have my blood checked for the previous one will be on thursday. Guess I’ll mention this one aswell and see if I have to wait longer now. I’m pretty sure the damn thing had only just fallen from the trees over Mord’s mom’s driveway before I found it, and it probably hadn’t bitten me yet but meh. I’d still rather be safe than sorry.

I hate ticks…. I don’t just hate them…. I loathe them…. :(
