I guess I need to change this topic because it seems to attract spaaam posts

July 28th, 2005

Quite so even.
Been having a bit of a fever and feeling mighty crappy for about a week.
Which is why I haven’t posted any blogs for a while.
Whatever I’ve got, Mord’s got it too unfortunately.

Saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory recently. Was pretty cool :)
I also finished my first Narnia book. Mord re-arranged the books for me so it’s in the right original order instead of the lame order the new prints come in.
Looking forward to the rest of em and also the first movie :D

Had to edit this bit in coz I forgot :
Been having this annoying sharp pain whenever I brushed my teeth in a certain place.
the feeling ya get when a dentist drills too far without novocaine. the feeling somethings poking yer nerve :S
At first I thought it was just sensitive gums after my last visit.
But a while back I took a good look in the mirror and I noticed this round lil hole in my tooth.
was so perfectly round that I had this odd feeling the dentist forgot to fill one of the holes he drilled out last time lol. Then I also remembered sitting in the chair expecting one more filling and the dude going “ok all done”.
I figured I’d just been mistaken, and ofcourse eager to leave the dentist chair I didn’t argue ;)
So anyway I went back. Dude confirmed it was the same tooth he did last time, cleaned it and put a filling in.
He didn’t actually say that he “forgot” lol but he didn’t charge us for it so I’m guessing I was right.
So anyway.. I can brush without wincing again :) /edit

I also finally got a WoW pet I’ve been wanting for a long time now.
A rare elite white hyena by the name of Giggler.
After ages of scanning through Desolace I finally ran into him and tamed him immediately.
Gave him a silly arse name “Jamankh” which is an ancient Egyptian hyena god from the Bast and Baal period :)
So he matches my black lion “Akhet” nicely (The Egyptian lion God who devoured Apophis :) ).

So here’s the two pets I’m gonna be likely to keep permanently :

first time I’ve posted again on BB.com in ages…

And only coz it was a comic compo :)
So far Noel was the only one to enter.
I figured I’d be a sport and try and come up with one too to make the compo look less ehr.. empty heh.

Gotta admit it’s quite tricky to come up with a comic which has to be 4 frames and feature a cheese sandwich, a pair of scissors and a kitten. Especially to come up with and put something together in less than a week heheh.

So it’s not great, but here’s mine.

(linked it because the dumbass blog page dun expand to fit the image)

OMG WTF BBQ!

I FINALLY GOT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :D

I’ve been wanting this for a long time.
The ever so rare “first mate hat”.
It’s cloth, the armor is shit, but IT LOOKS SO COOL!!!! XD

Done a half day worth of pirate slaughtering a while back but no luck.
So I figured I’d kill off a few more today.
And within 10 kills it dropped for me. w00t! :D

Behold ye, Pirate Shadeez :D

Yarrr!!!

Weee!

July 19th, 2005

Played some WoW last night with Morduun and Saarrt.
Was a lotta fun :)

The original plan was to go back to the Scarlet Monestary and finish up the rest of the instances there.
There were a few things we needed to finish off before we could go. And well… we kinda got distracted here and there. It ended up being very late very fast, and apart from a few pre-quests, all we’d accomplished by the end of the night was…

Weee!

I blame the hot weather… o_0′

Ghost Hunters

July 17th, 2005

It’s the name of a TV show here.
Apparantly they’ve made a new season which’ll be starting sometime soon.

Since I’m interested in these kinds of things, I started watching the first season but was utterly disappointed.
But then, what do ya expect from the makers of “American Chopper”.
It’s the exact same show buildup. 15% “ghosthunting” (if you can even call what they do that) and 85% drama and crewmember disputes.
After a while I just started watching it, not to satiate my interest for the paranormal, but just for the hilarity of it all. You have to admit, seeing someone who’s spent years trying to find a ghost, running away screaming like a little schoolgirl when they think they actually HAVE found something, is kind of amusing :)

That laughable attempt of a ghosthunter show aside though, I wish they would come up with a decent show about the paranormal again. It’s been way too long since we’ve had a decent one.
But I’m afraid that with these new popular ghost fads like “orbs” it’ll be hard to find someone to do some real objective research. The main goal of TV shows these days is to entertain, not to inform.

Ah well… Time to send in a letter to “ghosthunters/TAPS” and suggest they go visit the Black Mausoleum in the Covenanters Prison section of Greyfriars Graveyard (if they’ll unlock that place for them). See how hard they scream when the “MacKenzie Poltergeist” literally beats em into submission XD
There’s a ghost for them to “hunt” :)

Some (there are tons of em) of the last tourist accounts before the section got closed down for public access:

16 DECEMBER 2003: Alan and his new wife Emma from Dumfries were on their honeymoon in Edinburgh during the tour an American was knocked unconscious, he had been standing next to Emma, next morning she woke with large scratches on her chest.

29 OCTOBER 2003: Woman wishing to remain anonymous sees a white cloaked figure on the dome of Mackenzie’s tomb and experiences burning pains down left thigh and her sister feels something pushing down on her shoulders. Later that night she discovers deep grooves and scratches all down her leg.

12 OCTOBER 2003: Karina from Edinburgh experiences hard hair-pulling and hears low pitched mumbling.

15 SEPTEMBER 2003: Sara McGovern is knocked to the ground and the sensation of something hitting her.

AUGUST 16 2003: Andrea McVeanis knocked unconscious in the Black Mausoleum by an unseen blow to the base of her skull.

AUGUST 11 2003: A member of the tour feels as though she has been punched in the chest as soon as she enters the Covenanters Prison. She is shaking so badly she cannot write down an account of what happened.

AUGUST 9 2003: Sara Nicholson collapses in the Black Mausoleum.

JULY 29 2003: Andrea Kennedy feels ‘as though her arms were freezing’ in the Black Mausoleum. When she returns to her hotel she discovers bleeding scratches on both arms.

Anyway, I can keep pasting em forever lol. If you wanna read the rest of them :
Sightings Archives

Wether they’re true or not, they’re a hell of a lot more interesting than anything I’ve ever seen on “Ghost Hunters” :P

[edit] Eww….. disgusting addition here… apparantly the MacKenzie Poltergeist got seriously pwned by 2 drunk teens a while back.. 0_o[/edit]

Blahblahblah…

July 14th, 2005

Today was meh.

Meh

Was one of those days where it was hard to get outta bed.
Once I managed, I stared at one and a half x-files episodes, then dropped dead on the couch.
Slept there for about 30 mins when the dog decided it was time for me to wake up.
Pushed her disgusting wet nose in my face :/ (worst way to wake up ever)

Apart from that not much happened.
Still in a semi conscious state…. I hope whatever it is ‘ll be over by tomorrow.

Oh ya, I also did another one of those pen thingers.

yeahyeah I know, it’s anubis again. Blah no brain whaddaya expect :P
It’s crappier than the dragon but it was fun to mess around with this new found style a bit again.
‘ll probably keep that going and see what develops.

Better than expected

July 10th, 2005

Went to the movies with Mord’s mom yesterday.
We weren’t sure which one we were gonna see. But I’d heard that “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” was amusing, so that was one of the options.
Got on the road a bit later than expected so we just decided to go with the first movie starting once we got there.
We could still get into “War of the Worlds” during the movie previews so War of the worlds it was :)

I wasn’t really expecting much of it. Tom cruise… meh.. heheh.
But I hafta say I was pleasantly surprised. They didn’t put in any of the flying ships unfortunately but they did an awesome job on the tripods. Most impressive :) So that more than made up for it. Nice to see they had respectfully put in the original intro speech too.

So yeah, that’s definately one to watch on the big screen if you do wanna see it.
And even Tom Cruise was decent in it. So I’ll definately drag Mord over there to see it aswell when he gets back ;)

When I got back home after a yummy Lonestar dinner I managed to find the original Orson Welles Radio broadcast. So I listened to that.
I can see how people were scared shitless lol. they put it together to resemble an actual news broadcast of that time very nicely :)

So yeah, I’ve had my WoTW fix for this week :)
Now to get my WoW fix ;)

-Dee.

(oh and a random pen doodle I did while sitting on the couch brainlessly yesterday. :) Bit silly to create a new entry for it.)

A whole lotta fun :)

July 9th, 2005

I’ve been thinking about drawing ancient mythical creatures or even gods. Not the ones you see done to death like Anubis and such, which have been very clearly depicted in Ancient Egyptian art.
But the more forgotten and more obscure creatures. The ones people believed existed, simply because they’d seen something they didn’t quite understand and deityfied it.

I wanna draw these things because it’s so much fun reading up on it’s descriptions and trying to put it all together. Incorporating all the references and a pinch of your own imagination.

Like the Quetzalcoatl I drew a while back.
It was described as a serpent with wings. It was also mentioned that an actual existing bird (Quetzal) with a very long tail and lots of color was thought to be the reason for people to think it was a flying serpent.

So I grabbed a head reference from an ancient wall statue :

Then I grabbed some photos of the quetzal:

(Already started to see the similarities. It’s head feathers and indeed a very long tail…

And this is what I came up with. Trying to keep it as true as possible to the bird’s plumage colors:

It’s far from perfect, but I have to say it was definately one of the most fun pieces I’ve ever worked on :D

So yeah, I’ll be looking for some more obscure myths and creatures in the near future :)

Dumbass commercials

July 8th, 2005

Commercials have always been irritating. It’s a fact.
But lately… I’ve just been surprised at the stupidity of some of them.
I don’t know who they hired to come up with these things but they have to be almost as stupid as the people who hired them in the first place.

Couple of examples:

What’s with this popular new line they like to throw around when promoting skin products.
“Dermatologically tested!”

Yeah? And? what were the results ? did it pass? ‘Cause they NEVER tell you that! :P

Then there’s the new commercial for giving blood.
This chick talking about some chemical plant which was polluting the surroundings, how she protested and got the chemical plant closed. But then kids started getting sick from the chemicals but most of the parents who worked at the plant didn’t have any jobs anymore so they couldn’t afford healthcare for their kids…..
so…. it’s hard to save the world… so…. give blood instead.

You know what? A hospital which thinks it’s fine to just give up on complicated problems, walk away and take the easy way out instead is NOT getting my blood :P In fact, I hope I never end up in one of those myself.

Then there’s the ultimate dumbass slogan…
The Army : “Accelerate your life!”

Well yeah! Accelerate it indeed. Coz you know it’s gonna be over sooner if ya join up :P

I’m sure there’s heaps more I can’t remember right now.
Post em if ya got em ;)
